Narrow Horizons

In case you couldn't figure it out on your own, the reason I bought Xenosaga was that it was the closest I could find to a yuri-themed game for a system I had (the fact that I accidentally bought it for the wrong system notwithstanding). As it happens, PC games (of which I have seen many recommended) can be shipped overseas by amazon, but since I have no one to help me fix the text issue, I wouldn't be able to play them. In the end, it occurred to me that when I reinstall Windows, I could use a Japanese version. The Japanese use Roman letters and so on all the time, so hopefully compatibility would be better in that case.

When I used J-Windows (unfortunately it was ME) in 2004, I had no trouble at all. I could use all of the internets, GAIM, e-mail, and use Word in English to write stuff. Of course, the laptop I was borrowing had the right keyboard as well, which made it even better. That little key to switch input methods was essential, the "upside-down" return key notwithstanding.

Hey, even Ms. Sumiregawa uses a Roman keyboard.

i didn't see that text-issue post.

you shouldn't have to use a Japanese version of windows if you are using 2K/XP/Vista, since the OS is identical aside from the localization. Just go to Control Panel -> Regional and Language options -> Advanced, and choose Japanese as your 'Language for non-unicode programs'.

Sadly, since the standard accepted procedure is to not say anything unless you know the answer, I have no way of knowing whether people have missed a post, not cared, or just don't have anything to say about it.

Thanks for the help, though. I don't know why I missed that before. Restarting now. . . .
