Not That I Didn't Do the Same Several Times That Night . . .
Last night, I took a wrong turn and ended up on the interstate. (This particular wrong turn, unlike the one earlier on the trip, was not entirely my fault. The boss who scheduled the interview had only a vague idea of where he was at the new location, so he gave me an interesting amalgam of the directions to get there from both north and south.) Since this is against the rules, it was an unusual experience for me. At one point, I thought, "Hmm, I'm traveling at 10 mi/h over the speed limit, in the rain, at dusk. Well, at least I'm not as bad as that guy passing me." Fortunately, the guy passing me was a policeman, so no one got in any trouble. I also happened to speed past a parked squad car on the way back, but it didn't bother to chase me, perhaps due to the concrete median in-between us. Two blocks later, I was right behind a squad car making an illegal U-turn.
In any case, the guy says that he's going to hire me as soon as the drug test results get in. This has only happened once before, and there shouldn't be a scheduling problem this time.
